Visual Arts Facilitator / Program Assistant
Organization: Colorado Artists in Recovery (CAiR)
Location: Northern Colorado (Loveland, Fort Collins, and surrounding communities)
Position Type: 1099 Independent Contractor (grant funded through September 2026)
Compensation:
• $150 per workshop facilitated independently
• $25 per hour for workshop support, outreach, and community events
Estimated Engagement:
Work opportunities may range from approximately 5–15 hours per week, depending on workshop scheduling and program needs. Weekly hours are not guaranteed.

In Northern Colorado, CAiR offers free drop-in arts workshops and sober creative gatherings that help people reconnect with themselves and others through art and community. Our programs welcome individuals across all pathways of recovery.
Overview:
Colorado Artists in Recovery is seeking a visual artist with lived experience in recovery to support our Northern Colorado programming.
This role works closely with the Northern Colorado Program Manager to support CAiR community events and visual arts workshops in Fort Collins, Loveland, and surrounding communities. Our workshops are welcoming creative spaces where people can explore art, express themselves, and connect with others in recovery.
Facilitators typically begin by assisting the Program Manager during workshops and may transition to facilitating workshops independently as they gain experience with CAiR programming. Additional program assistant hours may be available through assisting the Program Manager in workshop facilitation, preparing materials, organizing supplies, assisting with outreach, supporting community events, and helping with workshop logistics.
Because this role involves holding space for others navigating recovery and mental health challenges, we are seeking someone with at least 1 year of lived experience in recovery, who is comfortable supporting others with empathy, respect, and models recovery-centered practices.
Responsibilities:

Help facilitate CAiR arts workshops and events

Facilitate visual arts workshops co-designed with the Northern Colorado Program Manager

Support workshop setup, materials preparation, and supply organization

Transport art supplies to program locations

Track attendance and support survey distribution

Maintain organized art supplies and communicate supply needs

Foster welcoming and inclusive creative environments

Support occasional community outreach and program events
Qualifications:
Required
-
Experience leading visual arts activities in group settings
-
1 year of lived experience in recovery (all recovery pathways welcome)

Experience working with individuals impacted by substance use or mental health challenges

Ability to facilitate workshops scheduled on evenings and weekends, with occasional weekday daytime programming

Reliable transportation and ability to travel to workshop locations throughout Larimer County.

Ability to transport workshop art materials and lift supplies (approximately up to 25 pounds)

Strong organizational skills and reliability

Commitment to trauma-informed and inclusive practices
